Priscilla PetersPriscilla Peters

Priscilla started coming to the Ridgway area in 1978. In 1989 after meeting Brian in Telluride, they decided to marry and move to Ridgway. On a trip to Telluride one afternoon with good friends, Susan Baker and Joyce Bucknam, Priscilla came up with an idea for what Ridgway needed; "a bookstore coffeehouse". The idea was hatched.

The Cimarron Bookstore and Coffee House opened in the fall of 1991 and we have been going strong ever since. Through the years we have had many visitors such as Garrison Keillor , Senators Ken Salazar, Mark Udall, and Congressman John Salazar. Now Ken Salazar is Secretary of the Interior. During summer visits, Ralph Lauren and his family come in daily, for their favorite drinks.

I love what I have created. With the help of our loyal community, I feel we are making a difference.

Lisa Knight and her boysLisa Knight

Barista Lisa escaped to peaceful, sleepy Ridgway as a burned out Telluride service industry refugee back in 1990. After showing up on the dusty Clinton street doorstep of newly opened Cimarron books looking for a job, she proceeded to demonstrate for Priscilla how to make killer lattes on Ridgeway’s only espresso machine. She was hired on the spot, and the rest is history. Lisa and Priscilla have been making killer espresso drinks behind the bar at Cimarron Books ever since.

Becky JacobsBecky Jacobs

I'm a Colorado girl. Born and raised. The simple, quiet, life is
what I'm striving for. Too many people around me have told me that it's the little things that count. So here I am serving great organic coffee, watching the birds fly and the sun rise.

Debra HynesDebra Hynes

Born and raised in this neck of the woods, I love Ridgway and couldn't imagine living anywhere else. I have a great job, wonderful friends and the most beautiful mountains as my playground.

Ruth StewartRuth Stewart

Having lived in Ridgway since she was 11, Ruth says, “This is home”. When she isn’t serving coffee she spends her time volunteering as a firefighter and a paramedic, teaching CPR, training with her fellow EMTs, and working with the veterinarian in town. In her “free” time she might be found riding her motorcycle, hiking in the woods, playing with her dog or staring at the stars.

Brooke HungerBrooke Hunger

Raised in Ridgway, Brooke is the definition of a small town girl. After attending college for psychology and sociology, she couldn't stay away and found herself back in the mountains, but she holds no regrets. Brooke says, “I live in the best part of Colorado. Along with full access to the great outdoor, I am surrounded by a colorful community that's warmth can make anyone feel at home”.
